Getting started with MailPanda
MailPanda works like hiring an email marketer, except setup takes about 15 minutes instead of three weeks of interviews. Here’s what happens at each step, and what’s expected of you (spoiler: not much).
What you'll need
- Your store’s web address (URL)
- A Shopify store, or a Klaviyo account (any plan, including free) — either works
- About 15 minutes — the trial is free and doesn’t ask for a card
Step 1 — Tell MailPanda about your store
Sign up at app.mailpanda.ai(or install the free MailPanda app from the Shopify App Store) and paste your store’s URL. MailPanda reads your public pages — your products, photos, writing style, and colors — and builds a profile of your brand. Every email it designs afterwards starts from that profile, so nothing comes out looking like a generic template.
Step 2 — Connect your store data
Next, MailPanda asks to connect either your Shopify store (the free MailPanda app) or your Klaviyo account. This is how it learns what actually sells, who your customers are, and what’s in stock — so a “you left something in your cart” email shows the right product, not a guess. The connection is read-mostly and you can disconnect any time. More detail in Connecting Shopify or Klaviyo.
Step 3 — MailPanda designs your email program
This is the part you’d normally pay an agency for. MailPanda proposes a complete starter program: the automatic emails every store should have (a welcome series for new subscribers, a reminder when someone leaves checkout without buying, a thank-you after purchase) plus a calendar of one-off campaign ideas built around your products and the season. Designing takes a few minutes — you can go ahead and leave this tab while it works, and everything will be waiting when you come back.
Step 4 — Review, approve, send
Nothing is ever sent without your say-so. Open any email, read it like a customer would, and either approve it or ask for changes in plain English — “make the photo bigger”, “sound less formal” — and MailPanda revises it. Once you approve, it goes live: published into your Klaviyo account as a draft, or queued to send directly through MailPanda. See Flows, campaigns & approvals for how the review step works.
A good first week
- Day 1: connect your store and approve your welcome series.
- Day 2–3: approve the abandoned-checkout reminder — for most stores this is the single highest-earning email.
- Later that week: skim the Campaigns page and approve the first one or two campaigns you like.
